A Fruity Rosé Cocktail

June 9, 2018

So I hear it’s national rosé day tomorrow and I just have to ask.. does anyone care? Ok that might sound a bit harsh, specially when this entire post is related to rosé, but I do honestly wonder. I, for one, care because it helps inspire me when creating content. I love that it’s something to look forward to and honestly I hope other people feel the same. Whether you celebrate by ordering a glass of rosé instead of your usual house white/red wine at dinner or buy a bottle of rosé to drink throughout the week. If you’re feeling inspired you might even gather a few ingredients on top of the rose and mix up a nice fruity cocktail.. like I did this week.

As most of you know, I’m a teacher and more recently a teacher on vacation, so naturally that calls for celebration. I had my two teacher besties join me for a light lunch and cocktails at home. We vented and sipped on rosé, and it was the perfect way to start our summer break for sure.

When I was browsing around for cocktail ideas, I almost decided on a frozé. It’s such a refreshing drink and it’s actually quite simple to make! However, I wanted to spice things up a little and make a fruity cocktail. I browsed for simple recipes, but honestly, I had no luck. Most of the cocktails asked for ingredients I didn’t have handy or too much sugar, which I wanted to avoid (hello Summer body!) So long story short, I took a few ideas and created a cocktail that’s simple, refreshing and it’s main ingredient is rosé.

Recipe

Ingredients:

Frozen mango chunks

Grapefruit juice

Agave nectar

Rosé wine

Directions:

Blend mango chunks, the juice of 1/2 grapefruit (maybe a little more) and a little agave nectar. Set aside. Take a glass, add a spoonful of the mango blend and pour ros. Garnish with a piece of grapefruit and enjoy!

Side note: I tried this with regular rosé and sparkling rosé and found that it was much tastier with the sparkling rosé. Also, the mango mix wont blend with the rose on it’s own, so you’ll have to mix it or enjoy the wine as the mango slowly diffuses into the drink.

If you try this cocktail out let me know if you liked it! To be completely honest, I feel like I can definitely improve the recipe, so I’ll be experimenting with different techniques this summer and I’ll try to keep you all updated as much as possible! As always, thank you so much for stopping by!

love,

Cynthia Rojas
