Mintysynth turns 25

September 11, 2017

So I turned 25 the other day and I honestly feel no different, other than the humbling feeling of being alive another year. When I was younger I remember waiting in anticipation for my birthday month to arrive. My mom and brother were great about making my birthday extra special. There was always some kind of morning surprise and then cake for dinner. I remember my mom telling me that when she was younger, her birthday was spent like any other day. I guess her family didn’t see them as anything out of the ordinary, but to me, celebrating my birthday is like celebrating my anniversary with my husband, you get to count another wonderful year of life. How great is that?

A lot has happened since my last birthday and if I could sum it up into one word, it would be: adulting. Yes, I’m currently adulting at level 100 with my husband. We have full-time “grown up” jobs, recently bought a house, fully renovated the house, and well that counts for a lot, right? We also like to stay in and cook dinner at home on the weekends. We even gave Hello Fresh a try (and we liked it). Oh and weekends also consist of building new furniture, trips to IKEA (I know the whole place like the back of my hand), and possibly cleaning or mowing our lawn. Omg, see? I told you, adulting. The only thing missing in this picture is a puppy.

I was lucky (sooo lucky) to have celebrated my birthday this year in New Orleans with my husband!! (See future NOLA post) We celebrated a week early, then with family and friends the following two weekends. We had Sunday brunch with our families at Joe T Garcia’s in Ft. Worth and it totally lived up to the hype. We were nervous about wait time with our large party but they were quick to accommodate, and then kept the margarita pitchers coming. We were also in awe with the scenery outside!! It reminded me of Mexico and how much I want to go back…maybe next year.

So lets talk outfit details. The jumpsuit I wore to brunch is from Zara and I instantly fell in love with it when I saw it. I was nervous about the fit, but it hugged my body perfectly. There was even wiggle room and parts of it were loose for a nice flowy feel. I paired it with some comfy Who What Wear heels and kept the accessories to a minimum.
